MTBF

MTBF stands for Mean Time Between Failures. This is an indicator for the average time a product or service can be used without unscheduled breakdowns.

The MTBF is a theoretical value. With electrical components, the MTBF value usually is a result of a large computation, including factors like:

  • how many individual components are involved
  • how big are the components
  • what type of components are used
  • what production process is used
